Rafting and Canoeing

Black Canyon just below the Hoover Dam to Willow Beach is the most popular trip (11 miles). You will have the opportunity to see wildlife including the Bighorn Sheep. The scenery of the magnificent Grand Canyon walls will be around you as you look up. The temperature of the river is around 53° all year round since it comes from the bottom of Lake Mead and through the Hoover Dam into the river. A trip permit is required by all craft on the river. By law only 30 craft are allowed to launch daily. 15 released at 8:30 AM and 15 released at 10:00 AM To obtain this permit it is recommended you apply for it as early as possible before your launch date. The temperature in the canyon is hotter (The temperature can be over 110° .) than above which makes the best time for a river trip to be in the spring and fall.
