Touring to Lake Mead will give
you the opportunity to see the Valley of Fire, the Hoover Dam and/or the Ethel M.
Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden (On your way out of town take Sunset Road to the
Factory).
Directions: Go south out of Las Vegas on US 95, turn left onto US 93 to Boulder City.
In Boulder City you will have a choice of turning on Lakeshore Scenic Drive (State
Route 166) or continuing to Hoover Dam on US 93. To the Valley of Fire you will want to
take Lakeshore Scenic Drive to the north shore. Take Route 167 north to Route 169.
It is worth seeing the
majestic Hoover Dam. You can go on a guided tour and see a film showing the building of
the dam. There is a fee for these services, but well worth taking the tour.
